Mission
Our mission is to support women with triple negative breast cancer and the co-survivors who walk alongside them by providing care, services, and helpful resources. We teach people about lowering their risk, finding breast cancer early, and the challenges many women of color face. We work to improve fair access to care, encourage women to join research, and support better treatments for everyone.

Education & Awareness
We provide education, resources, and support to help women, families, and communities better understand breast cancer, early detection, research, and the resources available throughout the breast cancer journey.
Community Give-Back
We support women and co-survivors through care packages, financial assistance, grants, and programs that provide comfort, connection, and support during the breast cancer journey.
Outreach & engagement
We create spaces where women, families, friends, and communities can connect, share experiences, build support, and come together to make a difference.
ADVOCACY
We raise awareness, share the voices of women and co-survivors, and support efforts that improve breast cancer care, research, and resources.
About Triple-Negative Breast Cancer
Why We Focus Exclusively on Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Operation
OKBC focuses exclusively on Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) because this type of breast cancer presents distinct medical, emotional, financial, and community challenges that require focused attention
FACT
Triple-Negative Breast Cancer does not have estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors, or excess HER2 proteins.
Because it lacks these three common treatment targets, hormone therapy and traditional HER2-targeted treatments are not effective against it. TNBC often grows faster than some other breast cancers, may be diagnosed at a higher grade, and has a greater risk of returning during the first several years after treatment.
FACT
Black women have the highest TNBC incidence rate in the United States. They are diagnosed at nearly twice the rate of White women and are more likely to develop TNBC at younger ages.
Latina/Hispanic women also experience a significant burden. Studies estimate that TNBC accounts for approximately 12% to 24% of breast cancers among Hispanic women. Latina women may also be diagnosed younger, with more aggressive disease, and at later stages.
FACT
Women of color may face additional barriers that affect their breast cancer experience and outcomes, including delayed screening or follow-up, limited access to specialists, insurance and transportation challenges, language barriers, financial strain, and underrepresentation in research. These differences reflect a combination of tumor biology, genetics, social conditions, healthcare access, and long-standing inequities in the healthcare system.
OUR WHY
OKBC’s exclusive focus on TNBC allows us to center the women and families most affected by TNBC, including Black and Latina women whose experiences, needs, and voices have too often been overlooked.
This is why general breast cancer awareness is not enough for our mission.
